ABOUT JAKARI

Once upon a time in a faraway land...….there was a little girl who had too much energy and was always wanting to try new things. On her 13th birthday her mother bought her a Viking Husqvarna sewing machine, little did she know that machine would be used for 20 years creating items such as quilts, adult clothing, blankets, purses, wallets and her absolute love; princess dresses!

She grew up and became an adult and started working in the Insurance world, solving claim problems for clients and helping create and streamline a Client Care Center for her company. No time to sew, she decided to focus on helping others. Her life changed almost immediately when her husband joined the military and they were shipped off across the country.

In this new state, she had a hard time meeting people but God blessed her with her first child. A beautiful little girl named Arielle. One day she was at the mall and was disappointed when she looked at the prices of dresses for her little princess. She went home, took her sewing machine out of her storage and decided to create some patterns of her own. This started an amazing revelation.

The King and Queen decided that they wanted a bigger family, so they decided to have another baby! A very energetic little boy, Jakobe, only 18 months age difference than their first child. The Queen became busy and didn't have time to create fun new things. The kids grew, and they grew, and they grew until the oldest had turned two and the youngest was 10 months old. Something scary happened.

The little princess started experiencing signs of Type 1 diabetes. Her mommy didn't want to believe it but she decided to get her checked out. It was confirmed, her sweet child was diabetic and would now need to learn diabetes and how to be responsible at the young age of 2. This little princess showed her mommy how strong she was. She fought and she learned, she proved her mommy wrong.

Her mommy, the Queen, decided that she wanted to start sewing again. She wanted to have a Princess Party for her daughter's 3rd birthday, so she created princess dresses for every little girl who was to attend the party. It was a grand time! Her daughter had never looked so happy. This made the Queen want to create dresses for other girls too.

Which began the process of my shop. :) I absolutely love making things and enjoy reading feedback and personal emails about how the little princesses wear their new dresses every day. :)

Sewing has been such a great therapy for me and I love that it can also make another little kiddo happy. I hope you enjoyed my story! :)

Thank you for reading :)

Signs of Diabetic Ketoacidosis (Sudden Onset of Type 1 Diabetes)
(Taken from Mayo Clinic)

The signs and symptoms of type 1 diabetes in children usually develop quickly, over a period of weeks. Look for:

* Increased thirst and frequent urination. As excess sugar builds up in your child's bloodstream, fluid is pulled from the tissues. This may leave your child thirsty. As a result, your child may drink — and urinate — more than usual.

* Extreme hunger. Without enough insulin to move sugar into your child's cells, your child's muscles and organs become energy depleted. This triggers intense hunger.

* Weight loss. Despite eating more than usual to relieve hunger, your child may lose weight — sometimes rapidly. Without the energy sugar supplies, muscle tissues and fat stores simply shrink. Unexplained weight loss is often the first sign to be noticed.

*Fatigue. If your child's cells are deprived of sugar, he or she may become tired and lethargic.
Irritability or unusual behavior. Children with undiagnosed type 1 diabetes may suddenly seem moody or irritable.

*Blurred vision. If your child's blood sugar is too high, fluid may be pulled from the lenses of your child's eyes. This may affect your child's ability to focus clearly.

* Yeast infection. Girls with type 1 diabetes may have a genital yeast infection, and babies can develop diaper rash caused by yeast.
